Take a look below at one of the healthy cottage recipes that we came up with. You can whip up a batch of Loaded Cottage Cheese Baked Potato Topping, perfect for piling on flavor to your potato without the guilt. Making your own Loaded Cottage Cheese Baked Potato Topping is easy, and a batch can be made in just minutes. It offers flavor that the whole family is sure to love, so keep reading to learn how to make a batch of your own!

Ingredients

1 cup of cottage cheese
¼ cup of shredded cheese (cheddar works great!)
2 tablespoons of bacon bits
1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
Pinch of salt and pepper to taste

To make your mixture even healthier, feel free to use a low fat variety of cottage cheese as well as a low fat variety of shredded cheese. Bacon bits will also contain less fat and calories than crumbled bacon. Making substitutions such as these keep the topping tasting great while offering a healthier alternative. As always, if one of the above ingredients doesn’t appeal to you, you can omit it from the recipe.

Directions

1. Begin by placing the cottage cheese in a mixing bowl.

2. Add in the cheese and bacon bits, and stir well until distributed.

3. Slowly add in the Italian seasoning. You can add as little or as much as you wish in order to get the desired flavor.

4. Taste. Add salt and pepper to your liking. Mix well one last time.

5. Use right away or chill until ready to use. To use your Loaded Cottage Cheese Baked Potato Topping, spoon a tablespoon onto your baked potato in place of traditional toppings. There will be no other prep of your potato necessary, as everything you need is right in the mixture!

Following this recipe will give you enough topping for 3-4 small potatoes. Your topping will take the place of traditional sour cream and other toppings which tend to drown your potato in fat and calories. It is easy to make, tasty, and is sure to become a family favorite!

Give this easy and inexpensive baked potato topping a try! You will find that you won’t be able to enjoy a baked potato without it.
